The Sights

At the southpoint of Zealand is the city Vordingborg. The city came into existence because of the castle, which was build to protect against the Wends, who were ravaging the country.

The tower at the castle is the best preserved tower in Denmark from the Early Middle Ages.

The tower is built by the King Valdemar 4. (1340 - 1375 ), who re-built Denmark.

On the top of the tower is a golden goose to symbolize the kings scorn for the Hanseatic cities.

Vordingborg has been the capital of Denmark.
