In 1854 a new set of coins was issued. The small-valued coppercoins
became a bit smaller than before, while the silvercoins kept their size.
The new coins were named "Rigsmønt" / "Coin of the Kingdom" instead
of the "Rigsbankmønt" / "Coin of the Bank of the Kingdom".
The name was taken because from 1854 the Danish money
were valid also in the part of Denmark, where the king only was a
duke.
Most of the people living in the Danish duchies Slesvig,
Holstein and Lauenburg were mostly German-minded and had used a special
currency, which was equal to the other German duchies.
