Postage stamps

One of the most common collecting hobbies in the world is to collect stamps.
The need for postal services were growing especially in the years of the industrucial revolution and the 1st of May 1840 the very first postage stamp was issued in the United Kingdom.

From that day the sender had to pay the fee for the postal service instead of the recipient.

Soon countries all over the world grabbed the idea and changed their postal service to work the same way as in the United Kingdom.

Agreements were made, so a letter could pass the borders between countries without the recipient or the sender had to pay anything.
