Like the other Scandinavian countries, Denmark was one of the
first nations to be a member of the United Nations.

In 1949 the communists were invading the south of Korea and to help
the Korean people UN was sending military forces to the country - to
help wounded people Denmark was sending a hospital ship to Korea. The
ship was Jutlandia, which was one of the first oceanliners with a dieselengine.
"Jutlandia" was a big help for the forces and is remembered
by the soldiers, who were in Korea. |

This was the first time Denmark joined an action
wanted by the United Nations. |
In the early 1950s the communist party were rather big, just like it
was in other European countries, therefore, Denmark was only able to
sent a hospital ship.
Also like the other western European States, Denmark got economic help
from the United States. Gasoline and bananas arrived and cars could
again be seen in the streets.
The first self-service store was opened in 1949 and the articles were
put in a wicker basket.
In the 1950s the Danes was not allowed to go to the theater or
cinema to enjoy themselves at the High Church days.
But they could see films of ethnography art, like the films from
some countries in Africa, where a Danish globetrotter was shooting
many films.
It was a kind of logic human logic.
After a very slow beginning television set no. 50,000 were sold
in 1957
