King Christian 9. became king of Denmark in 1863. He came from Germany
and had a very hard time being accepted by the Danes, because Denmark
lost a war with Preussia in 1864.
The king became popular with the Danes and Denmark was a little proud
of having so many royal people visiting the country every summer.
The 26th of May 1892 the royal couple, who were father or mother in
law with nearly every royal couple in Europe celebrated their golden
wedding.
In 1903 king Christian 9 celebrated his 40th anniversary of being the
king of Denmark.
