In 1906 King Christian 9. died and was followed by his eldest son, king Frederik 8.
The 2 Krone coin issued because of the new king, became the only silver Krone coin coined during his reign.
A Danish coin to celebrate the accession of a new king always has the new king or queens portrait at the obverse of the coin and the old king or queen on the reverse.
