The older Danish coins are found in the ground. The coin at
this page is founded at the little Danish island - Lęsų.
The coin is a Hvid, which is a very small coin of silver. The
Hvid has been coined by 10 different kings from 1440 to 1686,
where the last one of the Hvids was coined.
Since the first coins were coined in the world the quantity of precious
metals has always been reduced.
For the rulers of a nation, it was always so easy to fund, for instance
wars, by issuing more money of a given quantity of metal.
The same has happened to the Hvid during the about 200 years it was
coined.
