From 1875 the Danes have been using the Krone
and Øre as their currency, but already in 1618 the very first Danish
Krone (crown) coin was coined. The coin is a rather large silvercoin.
The coin was made to have the same value as the English Crown and were
called Krone in Denmark because of the picture on the reverse.
During the next 150 years the Krone were coined in different values
from a half Krone to a six Krone. Some Krone coins are also coined in
gold.
The last Krone was coined in 1771. It should take about 200 years before
the Krone returned.
