January the 1st 1875 the currency of Denmark changed from silver to
gold standard.
The old Daler and Skilling were exchanged to Krone and Øre. 1 Daler
was set equal to 2 Kroner and 1 Skilling was set equal to 2 Øre. The
monetary system was changed to be a decimal one. Instead of having 96
Skilling to get 1 Daler, the new currency had 100 Øre to get 1 Krone.
At the same time the Danish Krone got the same value as the Swedish
and Norwegian Krone. Sweden had already in 1867 exchanged to the decimal
system, Norway did it 1876.
The coins in the Scandinavian countries were all made of the same metals
and had the same sizes.
