The ferries could transport 2-3 passenger coaches on a
trip, so when a train came to the ferry station only a few of the passenger
coaches were shunted. The rest of the passengers had to board the ship.
In 1935 the combined railway- and roadbridge between Jutland
and Funen was opened by the new high-speed train and automobiles.
The old ferries sailed away while dipping the flags and
blowing the steam whistles.
