In 1970 there were small adjustments of the postal rates so a couple of new 'high-value' stamp were issued.

Commerative Stamps

A 30 Øre stamps - the rate for printed matter, was issued in 1970. The stamp is celebrating the 300 years jubilee of "The Model Chamber of the Royal Majesty" the later "Museum of the Royal Marine". The stamp is showing the figurehead of the naval battleship "Elephanten" launched in 1741.

Denmark was liberated in 1945 and a stamp showing a candlelight in a window was issued. Many Danes celebrated the liberation by setting up candlelights in the windows in the evening of May 4. 1945, after the BBC had broadcasted the message about the German surrender.

In 1920 the old part of Denmark was returned after a plebiscit from Germany. To celebrate it was 50 years ago a stamp was issued.

Jægersborg deer park was settled in 1670.

The physicist H. C. Ørsted discovered the electromagnetism in 1870.

Since the times of the vikings Denmark has been a marine nation, that was the reason why a series of stamps showing ships from the beginning of the nation till today was issued in 1970.


To celebrate United Nanitions were established in 1945 a stamp was issued showing the seal of UN.
