Commerative Stamps
In 1973 the horticultural society of Jutland could celebrate
it had existed for 100 years. Two stamps with flowers were issued.
The 60 Øre with "Rhododendron Impeditum" and 70 Øre with the rose
"Queen of Denmark".
A series of stamps with the same picture were issued in all
the Nordic countries, because of The Nordic Postal Service Conference
in Reykjavik, Iceland.
A volcanic eruption took place at the little island, Heimaey
(Iceland) in 1973. Both Denmark and Greenland issued a stamp with
a surplus for the people at Heimaey.
In 1673 the Royal Library was founded. It is the Danish National
Library and a stamp was issued to celebrate the jubilee.
The 2 Krone stamp is issued because of the scientist Tycho
Brahe, who lived from 1546 to 1601 discovered a super nova
in 1673.
At many of the old churches of Denmark there are many frescos
from the Catholic time. In November 1973 a few of them were shown
at stamps. The 5 stamps are printed together in the sheets.
