In 1972 Denmark got a queen - Queen Margrethe 2. Greenland was
the first part of Denmark to issue stamps with the Queen. The
first ones were issued at her birthday April the 16th 1973.
Besides the series with the Queen the series with pictures from
the nature of Greenland continued.
Commerative Stamps
To help the people, who had sufferered from the volcanic eruption
at Heimaey - an island by Iceland - both Denmark and Greenland
issued stamps with a surplus.
A series about the ways the postal services in Greenland works
or have worked began to be issued in 1975.
In 1975 it was time for celebrating the sledge-patrol - Sirius
- which is a part of the Danish army. The sledge-patrol has existed
for 25 years and is related to a Danish sledge-patrol 1940 - 1945,
which captured some German soldiers.
