Line no. 8 began as a horsedriven streetcar line in 1873 and was changed to electric streetcar line in 1901.

Line no. 8 became the line, which always was used as an example, when something funny should be said in revues about streetcars.

The last day for the line to be a streetcar line was April the 30th 1965. The nickname of the line was: The Flower Box because of the green colors of the lanterns.
