One of the many wars Denmark have had began in 1801 and this time it was also an unlucky one for the country.

An inflation began, because the government payed the expences for the war by issuing 'cheap' money.

Still the coins should have the value of their face-value and in 1809 the 1 Skilling coin was still made of silver.

Besides the small silver coins paper money were issued, which should be equal to the silver coins.

Of course the silver coins disapeared from cirkulation and in 1812 the little silver 1 Skilling coin was replaced by one made by copper

Denmark declared bankcruptcy in 1813 and a hard economic time began for the Danes.
