The new Danish king - Frederik IX - was a king, who was closer to his
people than his father. He really understood what to do to make the
royal family more popular than it ever has been.
The new coins have a more friendly look than the coins from his fathers
time.
The new series began in 1947 with the 2, and 1 Krone coin.
In 1948 the 25, 10, 2, and 1 Øre were coined and the last coin - 5
Øre - were coined for the first time in 1950.
The center-holes in the small values were taken away. The holes, when
the coins were minted in 1924, were a way to make the coins different
from other Scandinavian countries.
