The draughtsman Gerhard Heilmann (1859 - 1946) drawed for the Danish Centralbank the banknotes, which have been in circulation for the longest time in Denmark.

In 1910 the first value of a new series of Danish bank notes was issued. One of the values, the 500 Krone bank note were in use for about 60 years with only a color change and a different reverse.

The Heilmann Series

One of the most beatiful paper money ever made in Denmark is the 5 Krone issued in 1912.

Since it was issued people have discussed from where in Denmark the subject is. There are no places in Denmark looking like the picture, but the picture is so Danish.

The Heilmann series of paper money are consisting of:

5, 10, 50, 100, and 500 Kroner.

and all are looking very valuable.

The 10 Krone is issued in 1913.

From 1911 to 1954, the last 50 Krone paper money of this type was printed, there has been a spelling mistake. The right way of spelling 50 in Danish is halvtredsindstyve, and not without the 'd' - so embarrassing.

The higher values of the paper money were not cut on the left and right side, instead the sides were torn.

Both the 100 Krone and the 500 Krone bank note were printed for the first time in 1910.
