Everything about the monetary system was steady until a day in August 1914. It came as a shock to everyone - The 1st world war. People hid the coins made of silver or gold.

The convertibility into gold was suspended and very soon there was a lack of the silvercoins. August the 15th 1914 a brown 1 Krone paper money was issued.

People thought it was very ugly and in 1916 a new 1 Krone paper money was made. - The last one was printed in 1921.
