New high-value stamps were issued in 1946. They are showing the lions in the Arms of Denmark. Now the low-values were of the type fist issued in 1905, the middle-values are showing the sovereign, and the high-values are showing the lions.

Today, about 50 years later, it is the same tradition.

Commerative Stamps

The scientist Tycho Brahe could in 1946 celebrate his 400 years birthday.

In 1947 it was 100 years ago, where I. C. Jacobsen established the Carlsberg Breweries.

After the end of World War 2 in 1945 a foundation was founded for helping people or their relatives who had been in the Resistance during the German occupation. In 1947 3 stamps were issued with a surplus for the foundation.

Because it was 100 years ago since the establishment of the first railroad in the kingdom of Denmark, 3 stamps were issued showing the development of the railroads.

Special Stamps

The postal services in Denmark was running 2 ferry services. When people were sending parcels, which should use these ferries, some special stamps should be used. The stamps were overprinted with "POSTFÆRGE", which means "Mailferry".
