New high-value stamps were issued in 1946. They are showing the
lions in the Arms of Denmark. Now the low-values were of the type
fist issued in 1905, the middle-values are showing the sovereign,
and the high-values are showing the lions.
Today, about 50 years later, it is the same tradition.
Commerative Stamps
After the end of World War 2 in 1945 a foundation was founded
for helping people or their relatives who had been in the Resistance
during the German occupation. In 1947 3 stamps were issued with
a surplus for the foundation.
Because it was 100 years ago since the establishment of the first
railroad in the kingdom of Denmark, 3 stamps were issued showing
the development of the railroads.
Special Stamps
The postal services in Denmark was running 2 ferry services.
When people were sending parcels, which should use these ferries,
some special stamps should be used. The stamps were overprinted
