What should be the last of the stamps with king Frederik IX, first issued in 1948, were issued in 1955. The stamp was the 24th.

The Postal Service had a rather large remainder of old values, and they were surcharged in 1955. The old 6 and 7 Øre stamps were changed to be 5 Øre stamps, and the old red 20 and 25 Øre stamps were changed to value used for a normal letter - 30 Øre.

Commerative Stamps

The first aeroplane in Europe was made by a Dane, J.C.H. Ellehammer. The stamps is showing mr. Ellehammer in his plane, flying for the 1st time in 1906.

In October 1956 a series with 5 swans, symbolizing the Scandinavian countries, were issued at the same time in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Finland (Suomi). The stamps are printed at the Swedish postal services.
