Only 1 year after the introducing of the new portrait of the
king, it was time for some adjustments of the postal rates.
The red stamp of the common Danish stamps are always the stamp
for a common letter mailed inside the country and can give a picture
of the inflation. In 1875 the rate was 8 Øre and in 1963 it was
35 Øre for a letter.
Commerative Stamps
To celebrate it was 100 years ago the first international conference
for postal services was held in Paris (France) in 1863, a stamp
was issued. The stamp is one among many, which is engraved by
Cz. Slania.
In 1913, Niels Bohr published his theory about the atoms. Because
it was 50 years ago 2 series of stamps were issued both in Denmark
and Greenland.
To celebrate it was 150 years ago the first rules for the educational
system were made a stamp was issued showing a slate like the ones
the pupils used.
King Frederik IX's 3 princesses became the motive at the stamps
with surplus for the Danish Red Cross issued in 1964.
