1978 brought a new increament of the the postal rates. New stamps were made following the normal rules for the low-, the middle-, and the high-valued stamps.

In 1978 The National History Museum of Denmark could celebrate it was 100 years ago it was founded. The motives at the stamps are from Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerod, where the museum is.

In 1978 the fifth series of stamps about a Danish province were issued. At the 4 stamps are shown places in middle of Jutland.
