Line no. 2 was established in 1902 by a fusion between the Valby-line and the Christianhavn-line.

A speciallity for line no. 2 were the 8 Danish built electric streetcars. The reason for building these cars was a needed modernization of the lines of Copenhagen.

However when there was a need for more streetcars on the line in the rushhours the elder streetcars were in use at the line.

The last day for the line to be a streetcar line was Ocober the 18th 1969. The nickname of the line was: The Dane because of the colors of the line figure.
