Line no. 16 was a new streetcar line, which began running in 1920.

It became the first streetcar line to run outside Copenhagen, because in 1924 the line was going to Søborg, a suburb of Copenhagen.

From 1946 to 1956 line no. 16 also had some extra trips from the terminus to the cemetery, Vestre Kirkegård.

The line became one of the most important streetcar lines in Copenhagen.

The last day for the line to be a streetcar line was April the 25th 1970.
The nickname of the line was:
The Funeral line because the line was running between 2 cemeteries and even was passing one at the middle of the line.
