The 1st World War ended in 1918, but it caused damages to the economies
in many countries also neutral countries like Denmark.
Very soon after the war Denmark tried to make the Krone to have the
same gold-value as before - The Krone reached pari in 1926, and again
people could get gold for their paper money, but instead of the goldcoins
it could only be gold in bars. The silver-coins did not return.
In 1924 the monetary union between the Scandinavian countries ended.
Denmark coined a new series of coins. The 'Øre'-values had all a hole
in the center.
The Krone coins were not silver anymore instead they were made by
aluminiumbronze.
As a new coin value a half-krone was coined. The coin got a nick-name:
"smallholder-krone"
